Dubai Duty Free was announced as the largest single airport retail operation in the world based on its all-time high 2013 sales of U$1.8 billion. The stunning result marked the fourth time the Middle East travel retail giant has reached this position.

Holding out a hand for the children of Haiti: The Dubai Duty Free Foundation donated US$500,000 of the US$1.5 million needed to finance a sports complex at the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable, near the city of Saint Marc, Haiti, in support of the travel retail industry-led Hand in Hand for Haiti initiative following the devastating earthquake in the country in January 2010.

The US$1.5 million Dubai Duty Free Sports Complex includes a football pitch with artificial turf, a basketball court, two volleyball courts and a 400-metre six-lane running track.

The Dubai Duty Free management and staff at the launch of the Plastic Recycling Drive, which aims to encourage the operation’s 6,000 staff members to recycle plastic waste and turn it into useful products, therefore collectively focusing on the 4Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Reinvent and Recycle. The event coincided with a special screening of the film Trashed held at the Dubai Duty Free Auditorium.

Colm McLoughlin, George Horan, Salah Tahlak and Olympia Pineda, Manager – Corporate Responsibility, hand over a ceremonial cheque for AED2 million (US$545,000) to Mohammad Amin Al-Emadi, Director General, Dubai Autism Centre, and Farhan Shahid, Events and Project Manager. The donation supports the construction of a new 91,000sq ft facility in Garhoud as part of the centre’s Build A Difference campaign.
