Dubai Duty Free passed the landmark figure of AED1 billion in 2002. The surge in sales was accompanied by a sharp focus on raising quality standards across the operation, both on the front line and in the back office.

Formidable figure: Dubai Duty Free hit AED1 billion (then US$280 million) in sales in early December and US$299 million for the year as the sharp upward revenue curve continued.

Dubai Duty Free’s annual sales

Dubai Duty Free was one of the first companies in the UAE to win Dubai Quality Award’s prestigious Gold Category. After winning the Trade Category Award in 1997, a big effort was made to drive quality across the business. Colm McLoughlin is seen here with the trophy and his team.
