Travel Food Services CFO & CIO Vikas Kapoor – Leading the Finance Intelligent Automation Transformation

Amid the crisis, leading Indian travel F&B player Travel Food Services (TFS) set itself the goal of bringing new efficiencies to its business operations, reducing expenses and retaining as many team members as possible. The company noted that it has always adopted new technology with vigour and was already updating its processes through intelligent automation before COVID-19 struck. The company’s efforts to streamline its efforts using technology were led by CFO and CIO Vikas Kapoor. This began with projects in Treasury, Accounts Payable and Receivable, followed by business functions such as HR, Operations and Sales.

The implementation of cognitive thinking and AI helped TFS ensure that productivity remained error-free, secure and auditable. Its ‘Software Bots’ assisted with many of its complex financial processes, replicating human actions to keep operations running smoothly. Kapoor said: “Ingenious use of technology and institutionalisation of automation has always helped us serve passengers seamlessly and also drive operational adeptness. This implementation will bring in efficiencies by automating and giving first-class visibility, to keep the money coming in, and to control and have a better appreciation for what’s going out. It is a testament to our commitment to bringing in new technology like advanced Intelligent Automation and to drive efficiencies.”
