Lagardère Travel Retail – Innovation Week

Lagardère Travel Retail’s Innovation Week underlined how the creative spirit can flourish among teams and individuals at companies even in the most challenging times. From 5 to 9 October 2020, the Corporate Innovation team hosted Innovation Week, an online event open to employees at Lagardère Travel Retail head offices globally, to educate and stimulate participants about a broad range of topics including: new tech, airport innovation, in-store digitalisation, CRM and many others. The zero-cost event aimed to inspire, upskill and connect people, and to harness resources around innovation despite the crisis. Around 400 people took part from a potential audience of 2,000. The team, alongside Innovation Boosters from around the world, used platforms such as Teams, website builder Weebly, app Sli.do and digital whiteboard Miro to communicate and engage, with over 20 hours of live content.

Crucially, three test projects that were discussed are now in practice across the network: The Relay trolley; digital platform Inflyter; and an extended grab & go partnership for F&B with Servy. Chief Development & Strategy Officer, COO Asia, Séverine Lanthier said: “There was a great risk that during the crisis innovation would drop down the organisation’s agenda. This would have jeopardised our future. I asked the team to come up with an idea to re-energise the innovation spirit among our people, design tangible projects to be quickly implemented, and all of this at no cost and virtually, only using in-house or free resources. I am amazed at how succesful we have been in not only meeting these objectives, but exceeding them. 400 forward-thinking colleagues have put innovation back on the roadmap and are using their creativity to shape the future of travel retail.”
