Hacienda Patrón opens vibrant Heathrow T5 space
Bacardi Global Travel Retail partnered with Heathrow Airport, Dufry company World Duty Free and JCDecaux in September to unveil a striking Hacienda Patrón animation at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. Our on location video shows highlights of the campaign.
JCDecaux Airport packs a power punch with Hennessy Cognac at LAX
In what JCDecaux dubbed one of its most eye-catching campaigns to date, Cognac brand Hennessy brought middleweight boxing superstar Canelo Álvarez to life at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in advance of his highly anticipated third fight against Gennady Golovkin in September (again won by Álvarez). The campaign brilliantly lit up the LAX Time Tower in the centre of the duty free zone at Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Hailing the industry’s front line Superstars
In September we proudly announced the winners of the Travel Retail Superstars and FAB Superstars Awards 2022. Now in their second year, these highlighted the efforts of the thousands of frontline and behind the scenes heroes and heroines who helped keep the industry going amid its deepest crisis, across all trading channels.
How an Orchard sprung up at Hamad International Airport
On 10 November and in the days that followed, we brought you a range of video, photo and podcast coverage of the magnificent Hamad International Airport Expansion. The focal point is The Orchard, a mesmerising blend of retail, food & beverage, digital brilliance and a vast indoor tropical garden. These videos offer some valuable snapshots of the spectacular environment.
Fjolla Holzleithner on ‘sharing happiness’
When a global pandemic threatened to destroy her airport staffing and promotions business, Fjolla Holzleithner decided not to sit still but to create an exciting new virtual concept, Dayholi (more in our People of the Year section). The idea is now gaining traction in travel retail, and was named winner of The Trinity Challenge 2022 at The Trinity Forum in Singapore in November; the competition was hosted by Mondelez International Travel Retail and The Moodie Davitt Report to recognise and reward innovation in the travel retail world.
She also spoke to Roger Jackson (Dubai-based Managing Director of The SEVA Group-owned Organico Solutions) and Martin Moodie for a memorable edition of our TRI-POD video podcast series (below).
Glenfiddich catches the eye at Frankfurt Airport
As travel returned in 2022, so too did brand investment in engaging travellers with high-powered media at airports. A great example is the (continuing) campaign by William Grant & Sons’ Scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich, in partnership with Media Frankfurt, at Frankfurt Airport T1. It represents Media Frankfurt’s first digital out of home advertising campaign with 3D effects, and a first for German airports.
Heathrow makes an impact with ‘The Gift’
Heathrow Airport never fails to make an emotional impact with its videos in the lead-up to the Xmas festive season. Its latest edition, ‘The Gift’ is no exception.
