2001
As the world enters a new millennium, so too begins a new era at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Travel Retail as Fabrice Weber (right) takes the reins as Vice President/General Manager, Travel Retail Worldwide. He will play a formative role in driving the division to new and heady heights.
2002
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Travel Retail celebrates a milestone anniversary and marks ten years in the business. In that single decade, travel retail has evolved from a marginal channel to a critical volume and value driver and, just as importantly, a glittering international shop window for the group portfolio.
2004
Olivier Bottrie takes over from Fabrice Weber as Vice President/General Manager, Travel Retail Worldwide. What a tale is about to be told.
During his tenure, Bottrie was promoted to Global President, Travel Retail and Retail Development in 2017, becoming an ebullient driving force of innovation and growth in travel retail. From approximately 6% of group net sales in fiscal year 2004 when he assumes the role, that share will swell to some 27% by fiscal year 2022 when Bottrie steps into a well-earned retirement.
2005
British fragrance house Jo Malone London, acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. in 1999, officially launches in the travel retail channel. Jo Malone London offers luxury artisanal fragrances and home scent products.
Known for its pioneering approach to ingredients and storytelling, the brand quickly becomes a smash hit in the channel. Today, Jo Malone London is available in approximately 80 markets worldwide, a beautifully scented footprint that is set to grow and grow.
2007
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Travel Retail launches Tom Ford Beauty, a luxury collection of cosmetics and fragrances, shaped by American designer Tom Ford’s singular vision of modern glamour.
The brand, constantly refreshed, will grow to become a cornerstone of the group’s diverse multi-category presence in travel retail doors worldwide.
2009
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (ELC) Travel Retail introduces Darphin, Aveda and Origins into the channel. All three brands have strong eco-credentials, which form the beginnings of what would become ELC Travel Retail’s ever-growing sustainable portfolio.
Founded in 1958, DARPHIN offers botanical-based skincare solutions.
Aveda, founded in 1978 by hairdresser Horst Rechelbacher, offers high-performance plant-based hair, skin and body products for beauty professionals and consumers.
Powered by plant botanicals, Aveda combines ancient Indian healing techniques with modern science to offer a comprehensive menu of holistic beauty products.
Origins presents a range of transformative skincare with naturally-derived ingredients. The brand has a strong sustainable focus and has planted 2.12 million trees around the world since its launch.
