Welcome to a special edition of The Moodie Davitt Spotlight Series eZine, which shines the light on an artistic collaboration that celebrates a radiant moment in the Swiss landscape. In this edition, we tell the fascinating story behind the ongoing partnership between the prestige luxury house and Hong Kong-based multimedia artist Carla Chan, which has been renewed for a second year.
For the original launch of the Pure Gold Collection in 2021, Carla Chan was invited to take up a unique artist residency – a first for La Prairie – at the Monte Rosa Hut in Switzerland, where she was immersed in the beauty of golden hour in the Swiss Alps.
This year, the multi-media artist has once again joined hands with the house to capture the beauty of Lac Léman, La Prairie’s birthplace in Montreux. The collaboration unveils the next chapter of the Pure Gold Collection and celebrates the launch of the Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm.
In the following pages, we tell the evocative story behind 'Fading Space of Dawn', the art installation that resulted from Chan's immersion in La Becque Art Residency.
Drawing on the unique mountain and lake landscape of Montreux, the artwork blends digital media, augmented reality technology and sculptural mineral elements. It was revealed during Art Basel Hong Kong in Tai Kwun, Hong Kong’s cultural heart. Following its presentation in Hong Kong, Fading Space of Dawn was showcased at the La Prairie Lounge at Frieze New York in May. This latest artistic collaboration underlines La Prairie’s commitment to supporting female artists from different cultures and disciplines.
We also take a closer look on the science that powers the Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm, and why it marks the next step in La Prairie's sustainability journey.
The Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm completes the Pure Gold Line. It has been equipped with a special energy-rich nutrient, compounded by the La Prairie Pure Gold Diffusion System, enabling a highly-effective nightly skin-regeneration process.
The Pure Gold Collection is also the first line in La Prairie’s portfolio to offer replenishable vessels. The vessels were designed as highly desirable, sculptural objects that were meant to be kept forever.
