ASUTIL Report – Buenos Aires Ezeiza
A new gateway for Argentina
A new terminal opened at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport in April, offering a fresh face to the world for the main Argentinean gateway.
On 17 April, a new era began for Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport, with the opening of a new departures terminal, which will serve all international flights leaving the airport in future.
With capacity for up to 30 million passengers a year, the new building features a series of state-of-the-art consumer-focused and commercial operations, from F&B to the Dufry-managed duty free store.
Just before the opening to travellers, the 50,000sq m facility was inaugurated by Argentinean President Alberto Fernández and Minister of Transport Diego Giuliano.
The terminal was also built with a high degree of sustainability in mind. Low energy usage, water efficiency, waste management and carbon reduction lead the agenda, with the entire terminal powered by renewable energy.
Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 CEO Daniel Ketchibachian summed up the significance of the opening: “For us, it is a great pride to inaugurate a terminal that will be supplied 100% with renewable energy and that from today becomes the most modern airport in Latin America.”
