Travel retail highlights

A tower, a treasure and a travel-exclusive

The Tower of London is the famous home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom – a collection of world-famous sacred and ceremonial royal objects.

For Pernod Ricard’s Royal Salute Scotch whisky brand – which has a significant connection to the Tower of London – its treasures are similarly stored in the Royal Salute Vaults in Speyside. There lies a collection of some of Royal Salute’s most precious casks, according to Master Blender Sandy Hyslop.

It is these treasures that have been used to create The Treasured Blend, a travel retail-exclusive that was launched during the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. It will be available in November and retail at US$260.

The whisky is housed in an individually numbered porcelain flagon enhanced with gold detailing and a sapphire-jewelled stopper. The external packaging features an illustration from Royal Salute collaborator Kristjana Williams.

The Treasured Blend is the first 25yo expression in the Royal Salute portfolio and celebrates the brand’s aforementioned connection to the Tower of London. Royal Salute was first created as a gift for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and has since been the official partner of all ceremonial royal gun salutes fired at the London landmark.
