Estée Lauder extends brand presence at Brussels Airport with Lagardère

Our countdown kicks off with The Estée Lauder Companies opening one of its largest free-standing travel retail stores in Europe at Brussels Airport, while marking a decade-long partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail.

The venture – announced in February – introduced several luxury brands to the airport, including Tom Ford Beauty, MAC Cosmetics, Jo Malone London and, for the first time, Kilian Paris.

Lagardère announces restructure of global commercial team

In September, Lagardère Travel Retail revealed details of a strategic reorganisation of its commercial team.

The reorganisation included Alexandre Pardo becoming VP Global Supply Chain; Dr Munif Mohammed spearheading growth in the Middle East; Annabelle Chung heading the Singapore office; Fabio Castiglioni leading Commercial Coordination; Merchant Support being overseen by Stéphane Cathelain; and Guillaume Robert driving activity in Merchant Core Duty Free.

Raelene Johnson joins King Power Duty Free in Thailand

Raelene Johnson, one of Asia Pacific’s most respected and experienced travel retail executives, joined King Power Duty Free as Executive Vice President in July.

She was formerly Vice President Travel Retail International Merchandising for Shilla Travel Retail in Singapore, a position she had held since August 2023.

Bangalore Airport City Limited appoints Avishek Bambii Das as CCO

In a high-profile move, Avishek Bambii Das, the highly regarded former CEO of leading Indian travel retailer Ospree Duty Free, joined Bangalore Airport City Limited (a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited).

He was named Chief Commercial Officer of the company in April.

Aperol brings ‘L’unico. Per Tutti’ campaign to Rome Fiumicino with Lagardère

July saw one of the brightest airport promotions of the year, as Campari Group Global Travel Retail, in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, unveiled an immersive Aperol summer activation in Rome Fiumicino Terminal 1.

The installation was one of the most extensive travel retail showcases of Aperol’s new global campaign L’unico. Per Tutti (The one. For all) and refreshed visual identity.

JTI and Lagardère unveil Ploom limited-edition at Rome Fiumicino Airport

International tobacco and vaping company JTI partnered with Lagardère Travel Retail in January to showcase the limited-edition Ploom X device and accessories at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

The line was created in collaboration with renowned French designer Ora ïto and the launch was supported by dynamic activations at the airport’s two main duty-free shops.

Fran Law appointed to key role at Shiseido Travel Retail

January saw Shiseido Travel Retail announce the appointment of Fran Law as Vice President, Commercial and Business Development, Travel Retail Asia Pacific.

She brings over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, spanning skincare, makeup and fragrance and rejoined the company after an 11-year tenure at L’Oréal Group.

Dior and Lagardère partner for Nice Airport boutique and pop-up

In September, Parfums Christian Dior announced a partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail to introduce the Maison’s first airport boutique in the French Riviera at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

To celebrate, the partners launched a seasonal ‘Dioriviera’ pop-up at the airport running to the end of October.
