Recognising excellence in travel dining

Once again the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Awards proved a major highlight of the airport commercial sector calendar, with Incheon International Airport scooping the top honour at the 2025 event in Barcelona on 26 June.

The Korean airport won the ultimate Airport Food & Beverage Offer of the Year accolade during a memorable gala dinner at the magnificent Maritime Museum in the city – the culmination of another high-quality edition of FAB.

A momentous day for Travel Food Services as stock exchange trading begins

This image came from the National Stock Exchange of India in Mumbai, where on an historic day (14 July) food & beverage and lounge services provider Travel Food Services (TFS) began trading in line with its much-anticipated Initial Public Offering.

TFS, the joint venture between SSP Group and the Kapur family-led K Hospitality Corp, launched the IPO in a move that underlined the partners’ belief in the market potential in India.

Bold, brilliant Bengaluru Duty Free

Our on-location images from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru Terminal 2 in July underscore how Bengaluru Duty Free (a joint venture between Bangalore International Airport Limited and Avolta-owned Dufry) has created one of the world’s great arrivals and departures duty-free shopping offers.

The expansive spirits offer includes Godawan (pictured below), a fine Indian single malt whisky from Diageo India. The Godawan (also known as the Great Indian Bustard – be mighty careful of the spelling) is an endangered bird, now only found in the state of Rajasthan.

‘In the Spotlight’ – Armani Beauty and Qatar Duty Free partner for cinema-inspired pop-up campaign

In an eye-catching summer period activation, L’Oréal Travel Retail and Qatar Duty Free hosted an immersive ‘In the Spotlight’ pop-up for Armani Beauty.

Having appeared previously at events such as the Berlinale International Film Festival earlier in the year, the cinema-inspired activation made its travel retail debut at Hamad International Airport in August.

Chanel duplex boutique signals latest luxury landmark for Shilla at Incheon Airport

In August The Shilla Duty Free built on its credentials as a leading luxury travel retailer with the opening of a Chanel duplex boutique in Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.

Shilla’s first duplex store with Chanel at a Korean airport, it features a striking branded facade and blend of classic and modern design from the French power brand.

Inspired by earth, sea and sky: Jeddah Duty Free’s vibrant showcase for Saudi Arabia

In September the JAH Arabia International Duty Free partnership inaugurated an expansive, elegant and experiential Jeddah Duty Free store at King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The 6,000sq m departures retail environment in Terminal 1 houses many memorable local flourishes in design and offer, balanced by a strong presence from global brands and embellished by a series of first-to-market concepts.

The store, managed by the JAH Arabia joint venture between Gebr. Heinemann, Jordanian Duty-Free Shops and Saudi partner Astra Group, breaks new ground for airport duty-free in the Kingdom in terms of design, use of digital, breadth of brands across luxury, beauty and destination goods.

A new chapter for Cambodian aviation begins at Techo International Airport

Techo International Airport – Cambodia’s largest aviation infrastructure project and one of the world’s biggest airports by land area – opened on 9 September, with the project’s completion hailed as a “historic milestone” by authorities.

The terminal, with capacity for 13 million passengers annually in its first phase, was designed by British firm Foster + Partners, and blends Khmer-inspired aesthetics with modern sustainability, featuring bamboo-patterned domes that evoke traditional weaving.

Avolta bolsters African presence with hybrid concept in Abidjan

Travel experience company Avolta unveiled its first hybrid concept in Africa at Félix Houphouët-Boigny Airport, serving Abidjan in Ivory Coast.

The 620sq m concept, located within the renovated duty-free store in Terminal 1, features a duty-free shop alongside Graines d’ébène, a bespoke café known for fusing local culinary roots with premium global flavours.

A dash of colour from ARI in Montréal

Montréal Duty Free unveiled a vibrant art installation at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, with the colourful work hand painted by talented team member Dieujuste Marc Alexandre.

The design includes playful nods to Montréal, captured in a bold, colourful display. It serves as a tempting photo-ready backdrop for passengers who want to capture a final piece of local flair before departure.

Jägermeister brings ‘The Orange Era’ to Rome

Mast-Jägermeister partnered with Lagardère Travel Retail in September for a dynamic travel retail-exclusive pop-up campaign at Rome Fiumicino Airport under The Orange Era tag line.

The activation centred on the new Jägermeister Orange expression, launched in travel retail in April.

With its bold orange design, the campaign drove awareness, trial, shopper recruitment and incremental sales.
