Images of the Year (II)
On location at the fourth Hainan Expo
The fourth China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) proved another big success with some 480,000 visitors – trade and consumer – attending the event in April.
It carried the theme ‘Share open opportunities, Co-create a better life’. More than 4,000 brands from 71 countries/regions took part with over 55,000 buyers and other professional exhibitors. Pictured with event mascots below is The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie, who reported extensively from the Expo during the week.

Ever Rich opens world-first Taiwan Pop Music Gate Lounge
Ever Rich Duty Free opened a world-first Taiwan Pop Music Gate Lounge at Taoyuan International Airport on 30 April.
The gate C7 lounge under the theme ‘Echoic Memory of Taiwan’ is designed to showcase the past, present and future of Taiwanese pop music.

“An unforgettable experience” – The Macallan hosts Cirque du Soleil collaboration premiere
On 9 May Edrington Group-owned The Macallan premiered a sumptuous sensory experience in collaboration with performing arts specialist Cirque du Soleil as part of the single malt Scotch whisky brand’s 200th anniversary celebrations.
The Moodie Davitt Report attended the one-of-a-kind theatrical event – titled Cirque du Soleil Spirit – at The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland.

Qatar Duty Free launches airport world-premiere Dior Luxury Beauty Retreat
In one of the most ambitious partnerships executed in the channel this year, Parfums Christian Dior and Qatar Duty Free officially opened a global-airport-first beauty store and spa at Hamad International Airport on 7 May. It is Dior’s largest spa worldwide and the first globally to include a barber shop.
The Dior Luxury Beauty Retreat occupies an elegant duplex space in The Orchard, and houses an elegant wellbeing space and spa featuring eight bespoke cabines, each offering different treatments for face and body.

DFS Group presented an extraordinary range of rare, luxury and often exclusive wines & spirits at Masters of Wines and Spirits 2024 in Macau in late May.

LVMH-owned Moët Hennessy partnered with Ospree Duty Free in May to celebrate Ardbeg Day at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, with the launch of the limited-edition Ardbeg Spectacular whisky.

Saluting the best in airport F&B and hospitality
The Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards 2024, which took place in Ontario, California on 25-26 June, was among the most memorable in the event’s rich history.
The FAB Awards – drawn from over 300 entries this year – provided an emotional conclusion at a glittering Gala Evening provided by wonderful hosts, Ontario International Airport.
