Serving up a dazzling Aperol occasion at Melbourne Airport

Departing passengers at Melbourne Airport encountered an explosion of colour and experiential engagement courtesy of Campari Group Global Travel Retail and Lotte Duty Free from January 2024.

The collaboration delivered a vibrant brand activation in the form of the first-ever Aperol experiential shop-in-shop in global travel retail, located in the Terminal 2 departures zone.

The 55sq m attraction aligned with Aperol’s renewed long-term partnership with the Australian Open, the Grand Slam tennis event held in Melbourne in January.

Lagardère Travel Retail opens world’s largest airport LEGO store in Dubai

Lagardère Travel Retail, in partnership with LEGO Travel Retail, officially opened the world’s largest LEGO airport store at Dubai International in early 2024.

The 190sq m store was constructed to resemble giant LEGO bricks and features interactive zones designed to stimulate creativity and engagement.

Marking the Year of the Dragon

Moët Hennessy Travel Retail unveiled a Lunar New Year activation for Maison Hennessy in partnership with Changi Airport Group and Lotte Duty Free in early 2024.

The 70sq m sensory experience in Changi Airport Terminal 1 Departures was the largest Hennessy pop-up in travel retail for the festive season.

A historic day for aviation in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi International Airport was officially renamed Zayed International Airport on 9 February, to honour Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates.

The renaming coincided with a special ceremony to inaugurate the airport’s new (formerly) Terminal A, which soft opened in November 2023.

The new terminal has the capacity to host 45 million passengers annually and accommodate 79 aircraft at any given time, strengthening the aviation sector’s contribution to Abu Dhabi’s diversified economy.

Dubai Airports unveils O’Regan’s Irish Bar & Restaurant in tribute to duty-free pioneer

On 13 February Dubai Airports inaugurated O’Regan’s Irish Bar & Restaurant at Dubai International Airport. The outlet is a tribute to Dr Brendan O’Regan, whose multiple achievements include founding the airport duty-free industry, which he created at Shannon Airport, Ireland in 1947.

‘Connecting past, present and future’ – Rémy Martin celebrates historic 300th anniversary

In March Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail unveiled the 300th Rémy Martin Anniversary Coupe as a key element of the famed Cognac house’s tricentenary (1724-2024).

The 300th Rémy Martin Anniversary Coupe made its debut in global travel retail at a series of exclusive dinners in Hong Kong and Singapore hosted by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau (below).

The events and the bottling mark a tricentenary landmark for which the House connected past, present and future with a year of special activities around the theme ‘We Dream Forward’, covered extensively via our media through 2024.

AVATR unveils flagship showroom with JCDecaux at Shanghai Pudong Airport

AVATR Technology, a global leader in high-end Smart Electric Vehicle (SEV) production, inaugurated a cutting-edge flagship showroom at Shanghai Pudong International Airport Terminal 2 in March.

The showroom, a world first for the brand, was created in partnership with JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Co. It was designed to highlight AVATR’s futuristic mobility experiences and lifestyle.
