‘In the name of Mother Nature’
‘The story of Telmont is as multi-layered as the elegant Champagnes it produces. The brand, whose majority shareholder is Rémy-Cointreau, has attracted investment from US actor Leonardo DiCaprio, a close friend of CEO and fellow shareholder Ludovic du Plessis, who had an ambitious vision to buy and run a Champagne house that would be a byword for high quality and, crucially, for sustainable farming.’
So began our story, published in July, on the remarkable ambition behind the Telmont brand, which has set its sights on producing 100% organic Champagne.

‘Breaks for Good’ with Nestlé
Nestlé International Travel Retail underlined the role sustainability plays in the future of its key brands in travel retail, notably through its Breaks for Good campaign and related initiatives this year.
The first KitKat made with cocoa sourced from beans grown by families engaged in Nestlé’s Income Accelerator Programme launched in European travel retail in early 2024. KitKat is the first global chocolate brand to use 100% sustainably sourced cocoa through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan and its collaboration with Rainforest Alliance, the company said.

Painting the world pink to support Breast Cancer Campaign
The Estée Lauder Companies launched its 32nd annual Breast Cancer Campaign on 1 October.
Together, The Campaign and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have funded more than US$131 million for lifesaving global research, education and access to medical services with more than US$103 million funding medical research through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The Moodie Davitt Report, as always, was proud to support the Campaign, which in 2024 was themed ‘Breast Care is Self-Care’. We transformed our homepage and other media platforms with a vibrant pink theme, highlighting our solidarity with one of the world’s most remarkable and sustained corporate social responsibility projects.

Mumbai Airport supports local artisans amid ‘One Nation Billion Celebrations’ campaign
In October, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport launched its ‘One Nation Billion Celebrations’, its annual festive shopping campaign for both domestic and international travellers – with support for local artisans front and centre.
The airport company partnered with skilled craftspeople from Kumbharwada (the pottery hub in Mumbai’s Dharavi area) to source nearly 100,000 handmade diyas (lamps) as gifts for passengers.
Crafted by over 100 potters, from young to master artisans, these diyas highlighted Kumbharwada’s heritage and intergenerational craftsmanship.

Women in Travel Retail+ raises over US$28,000 for FRASI Bike to School project
In October Women in Travel Retail+ (WiTR+) surpassed the fundraising goal for its 2024 charity, For Resilience Italian Swiss Association’s (FRASI) Bike to School project.
FRASI is a non-profit founded in Lugano, Switzerland in 2012. The organisation works to support people who find themselves in vulnerable conditions – in particular boys, girls and women – operating in countries where humanitarian crises arise.
Its Bike to School project was born to help prevent boys and girls from dropping out of school, providing them with means of transportation as Sri Lanka experiences its worst economic crisis since its independence in 1948.

A journey of reconciliation
In October, Heinemann Oceania announced its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), describing it as “a significant milestone in its journey towards reconciliation with Australia’s First Nations peoples”.
The move makes Heinemann the first travel retailer to have a RAP endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
Under its Reflect RAP, Heinemann Oceania commits to establishing respectful ongoing relationships with First Nations peoples and stakeholders within its sphere of influence and local area.

How a ten-year-old violin maestro brought US$115k of smiles to The Trinity Forum
Has there ever been a travel retail industry gala dinner act like this? Minh Ho, a prodigiously talented ten-year-old violinist, entertained guests at The Trinity Forum Gala Dinner in Ho Chi Minh City on 6 November with a performance nobody who was there will forget.
Not only did he display his virtuoso talent but the young boy lent poignant and powerful emotional impetus to the evening’s fundraising auction on behalf of cleft charity Smile Train.
