Travel Retail Highlight

A showcase for Japanese craft

The House of Suntory, flagship brand of Japanese drinks company Suntory Global Spirits, has partnered with Changi Airport Group and Lotte Duty Free Singapore to unveil a shop-in-shop boutique at Singapore Changi Airport.

The 30sq m experiential retail space in Terminal 4 Departures draws inspiration from Japan’s natural landscapes and its craftsmanship.

This opening follows The House of Suntory’s first shop-in-shop in travel retail, which launched earlier this year within Lotte Duty Free’s refurbished central duplex store at Changi Airport T3.

Comment: Through recent store openings and experiences at Singapore Changi, Incheon International, Mumbai International, Dubai International and London Heathrow airports, among others, Suntory Global Spirits has delivered some memorable showcases for Japanese whisky and the company’s brand universe in particular.

At Changi, the Lotte Duty Free-managed space takes travellers on a sensory journey through the portfolio from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Hibiki whiskies to craft spirits such as AO, Toki, Roku Gin and Haku Vodka.

Imaginatively, large display screens reflect seasonal changes in nature, creating a strong association with Japan, while branded discovery stations with interactive screens allow travellers to explore digital content, and a mobile tasting table offers samples.

The investment underlines the faith that Suntory Global Spirits has in the power of travel retail, and reinforces the channel’s status as a haven for innovation and memorable experiences.
