Cotswolds Distillery marks tenth anniversary and invests behind travel retail ambitions
2024 marks ten years since Cotswolds Distillery began its mission to bring English craft spirits to the travel retail and world stage.
Founded in 2014 by former finance executive Dan Szor, Cotswolds Distillery produces single malt whisky and premium small-batch gin using traditional methods and with local ingredients. In that time the distillery has undergone major expansion, doubling in size, with capacity today to produce over 500,000 litres of whisky.

The local community is an integral part of Cotswolds Distillery's production process from harvesting to bottling
The company has long said that it aims to present something new, engaging and innovative to travellers – and will double down on that drive with its new product developed for travel retail this year.
At TFWA World Exhibition, Cotswolds Distillery will showcase its full travel retail range and launch a new one-litre Reserve single malt whisky. This aims to build on the success of its Signature single malt that entered the market last year.

International Sales and Global Travel Retail Director Lynsey Eades says: “We will introduce the new one-litre Reserve at Cannes. Having this new product reflects our commitment to cater for the unique demand in travel retail as this SKU will be exclusive in flavour and size format. This will further support the strength of our range, and our leading position within the English whisky category and presence within New World whisky.”
Cotswolds also takes pride in its green credentials. In August it opened a Wetlands Ecological Treatment System on the distillery site. The Wetlands will naturally process three-quarters of the waste water from the distillery’s whisky making, creating a bio-diverse habitat for local wildlife as well as cutting the number of road tanker visits to the site by -65%. The construction of this system has turned discarded marshland into a biodiverse haven for plants and wildlife.

The system treats waste water by breaking down contaminants in the water streams
As TFWA World Exhibition approaches the company notes: “2024 has been a significant year for Cotswolds Distillery as we celebrated our tenth anniversary. Not only does this make us one of the oldest English whisky producers, but we are unquestionably the largest too. As a leading force in the category, we hope to continue building on our international expansion plans with the increasing global opportunities in New World whisky.”
