The House of Suntory builds travel retail range with The Kogei Collection
The House of Suntory’s new and inaugural global travel retail-exclusive Yamazaki and Hakushu Kogei Collection (2024 Japanese Kimono Edition) is a new milestone for Suntory Global Spirits – on many levels – and perfectly illustrates the company’s commitment to combining premiumisation with sought-after exclusives.
As reported, the collection made its global debut in April at the House of Suntory’s first-ever travel retail shop-in-shop boutique in Singapore Changi Terminal 3 within Lotte Duty Free’s refurbished central duplex store.
The first high-profile outpost installation to support the launch went live in Dubai International Terminal 1 Departures throughout June, in partnership with Dubai Duty Free, and will be followed by other hero airport pop-up animations at Singapore Changi and London Heathrow this summer, with smaller-scale airport activations also planned for Los Angeles, Shanghai, Hainan, Doha, Sydney, Paris and Delhi airports.
The word ‘Kogei’ can be translated as ‘traditional Japanese craftmanship’. This new whisky collection explores the traditional crafts of Japan through selected artisan partnerships, with the aim of encapsulating Japanese artistry. The debut 2024 Japanese Kimono Edition was created in collaboration with Chiso, Kyoto’s preeminent Kimono House, which has been crafting the finest Japanese kimonos since 1555. The packaging of this debut release, which will be refreshed every two years, features intricate designs based on Chiso kimonos that draw inspiration from the stunning natural surroundings of both distilleries.
The 2024 Kogei Collection comprises two whiskies: the Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak and the Hakushu Peated Malt Spanish Oak. Both are available in selected airport doors worldwide, with an RRSP of US$205 for 700ml.
