The Trinity Forum: Qatar Duty Free

Qatar Duty Free talks Trinity principles

“We have executed an extraordinary transformation in recent times, a testament to what we can achieve when we do things together.” That was among the key messages from Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Thabet Musleh, addressing The Trinity Forum (via video), in which he discussed the vision and the investment that has made Hamad International (HIA) one of the world’s great airports.

That transformation over the past two years includes the upgrade of existing retail in the South Node across fashion & accessories, beauty and the introduction of new concepts across categories and price points, from budget store Big Value Duty Free and travel essentials concept Day2Day – alongside signature high-end introductions such as Louis Vuitton.

In November 2022, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup, HIA opened its magnificent North Node Terminal Expansion with retail and dining overlooking The Orchard, a lush green forest are where travellers can walk and relax.

These projects came about, according to Qatar Duty Free, because of “partnership within a Trinity model”.

Musleh said: “We have a unique Trinity in Doha, with Qatar Airways, Hamad International Airport and Qatar Duty Free all aligned on serving our passengers in the best possible way. We also salute our brand partners who help bring this reality to life day in, day at the airport.”

Musleh also noted: “We are here to change perceptions. We have historically been seen as having a luxury offering, but in fact we have something for everyone, appealing to as many tastes, needs and budgets as possible. HIA’s offering is among the most diverse at any airport worldwide, from local flavours to the biggest international brands across all categories.

He cited the strong focus on experience, regardless of level of spend, alongside a desire to offer tailored services

Musleh said: “Our focus is to work on partnerships to stretch brand experiences. We want to get brands and QDF closer to passengers than ever before.”

Concluding his Trinity message, Musleh called on partners to “dream alongside us about what innovation we can bring to the industry. Together we can do amazing things.”
