The relaunch of the revamped Moodie Davitt e-Zine – ‘Travel Retail’s Lookbook’ – continues a proud history of innovation since 2002. Here we look back on our key landmarks of the past 16 years and highlight the readership and market leadership that The Moodie Davitt Report now commands.

16 September 2002

The first edition of The Moodie Report (then a simple pdf) is published. It comes amid political and commercial crisis as we assess the impact on travel retail of the war in Iraq.

12 March 2003

The Moodie Report website is launched, quickly becoming an indispensible source of reliable, real-time business intelligence on the global travel retail sector. It quickly becomes the ultimate disruptor of traditional print legacy titles and becomes the industry's unrivalled ‘go to’ information source.

18 June 2003

The first Trinity Forum is held in London, a seminal event that seeks to redefine the relationship between industry stakeholders. Now a partnership with Airports Council International, and with ‘Trinity’ an entrenched part of industry parlance, the Forum has become the aviation sector’s most influential commercial event.

20 October 2003

Our brand is extended to The Moodie Davitt Report Print Edition – an immediate critical and commercial success that is now a clear leader on a like-for-like issue basis in advertising terms. Today it is published in both hard copy and Interactive formats, the latter not simply a digital reproduction of print (as with our rivals) but with additional dynamic elements such as video and podcasts.

The Trinity Forum White Paper is released, examining the future – and fairness – of the

airport retail tender model. Its publication underlines the company’s determination to advance the industry agenda.

24 September 2006

The Moodie Blog is launched, travel retail’s first industry blog. Its combination of humour, poignancy and frankness has made the Blog one of our most popular products.

22 March 2007

Another watershed as the travel retail industry’s first (and still only) Podcast is launched. The Moodie Podcast highlights some of the industry’s big stories in a snappy audio format, capturing the excitement and energy of major store and terminal launches in particular.

5 October 2007

The company hosts a hugely successful charity fundraising dinner in Hong Kong on behalf of children’s cleft charity The Smile Train.

22 November 2008

The inaugural Miles for Smiles walk/run is held in Dubai to raise further funds for The Smile Train. The event raises over US$200,000, literally bringing smiles to hundreds of young faces.

3 February 2010

‘Hand in Hand for Haiti’, a travel retail industry initiative to assist the reconstruction of Haiti following the catastrophic January earthquake, is launched. It is spearheaded by senior executives from DFS Group, The Estée Lauder Companies and The Moodie Report. It will grow to be the biggest CSR project in travel retail history.

January 2011

The first Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards takes place in Manchester. FAB is now firmly established as the only global event for the burgeoning airport F&B sector.

4-7 March 2011

CSR to the fore again as industry management and staff all around the world take part in the first Moodie Multi-National Marathon to raise funds for Hand in Hand for Haiti. A second event takes place in June 2012.

11 August 2011

The Moodie Report e-Zine is launched, representing a first for travel retail publishing in embracing the full multimedia spectrum.

26 August 2011

The Foodie Report, sister title to The Moodie Report, is launched with a focus on travel-related food & beverage. The publication, another industry first, is the companion to the acclaimed Airport FAB Conference & Awards.

10 May 2012

The Moodie Report Foundation, a charitable institution dedicated to helping fund cancer research and other cancer-related services, is launched.

12 June 2012

The world’s first airport-specific digital, mobile and social media awards – dubbed ‘The Moodies’ – are unveiled. They are designed to champion and reward thought leadership, innovation and consumer interaction.

31 August 2012

A new division, Moodie Corporate, is created, dedicated to corporate publications produced for industry clients.

5 October 2012

A charity ball at the Hotel Icon in Hong Kong is held to mark the company’s tenth anniversary. The event raises funds for The Moodie Report Foundation and Hand in Hand for Haiti.

30 September 2015

After a brief spell under external ownership due to his illness, Founder and Chairman Martin Moodie takes back full control of The Moodie Report parent company, Moodie International Ltd. His long-time deputy, Dermot Davitt, becomes a minority shareholder soon after.

1 April 2016

The Moodie Report is rebranded as The Moodie Davitt Report, reflecting Dermot Davitt’s vital contribution to the company and the changes to the ownership of parent company Moodie International.

28 June 2017

The Moodie Davitt Report launches a five-year cancer research fellowship in association with London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, honouring loved ones of the Moodie Davitt team who have been lost to the disease.

27 May 2018

Chinese social media channel WeChat is the chosen platform as The Moodie Davitt Report teams up with Chinese travel retail information provider DutyFreeExpert to provide a new Chinese language fortnightly industry information service. The title is called i免税中国 (literally ‘Love Duty Free, Love China’).

4 June 2018

A novel way to underpin our voice of authority: The Moodie Davitt Report announces Amazon Alexa flash briefing skill. The programme delivers travel retail updates as part of the Alexa voice service for Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Spot and Echo Show smart speakers.

14 June 2018
