A Very British Collaboration
Welcome to the latest edition in our acclaimed Moodie Davitt Spotlight Series, our second to portray an absorbing tale of innovation from Bowmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Earlier this year we placed our spotlight on the Bowmore Timeless Series, a remarkable range of single malt Scotch whiskies from the island of Islay. It told the story of a partnership between nature, man and time, resulting in outstanding single malt whiskies that have proved of huge appeal to Bowmore aficionados and newcomers alike. It also focused on a stunning collaboration with independent French film maker and artist Thomas Vanz, examining his extraordinary homage to both the Timeless concept and the artistic craft that underpins Bowmore’s whiskies.
This edition portrays a very different collaboration, one between two iconic British brands. One is, of course, Bowmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky; the other, one of the great names in the automobile industry, Aston Martin. Designed by Aston Martin, a limited-edition collection of three exceptional whiskies, is the latest creation to emerge from the partnership between Bowmore and Aston Martin that we first reported back in 2019. That alliance has already borne fruit with the launch of the rare Black Bowmore DB5 1964 single malt and this new triple launch continues to showcase both brands’ commitment to craftsmanship, innovation and the quest for timeless beauty.
New Designed by Aston Martin editions, featuring designs inspired by different cars from Aston Martin’s heritage, will be released annually. This premiere edition incorporates Bowmore 10, 15 and 18 Years Old expressions, each innovatively paired with a classic Aston Martin car that shares its character. The stunning labels and presentation boxes have been created by the luxury carmaker’s design specialists to underline the depth of the joint team effort. Encouragingly, the collection is exclusive to travel retail – a tremendous vote of confidence in the channel at a time when it requires brand commitment and belief more than ever. The limited-edition bottle and packaging design will be available in duty free worldwide, with high-profile activations in key locations including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Hainan, Istanbul and Taipei. In fact, Designed by Aston Martin seems tailor-made for travel retail, where channel exclusives and gifting are the second and third most important motivations for buying spirits. This exclusive collection was driven by consumer insight which revealed that consumers were seeking rarity and gifting opportunities of real distinction.
