There have been many memorable, exciting and informative videos released this year in our industry. We look back at some of the most impactful.

Turning waste into art

Shinsegae Duty Free introduced a range of artworks drawn by Kim Mi-Seung using discarded cosmetics products to promote public interest in upcycling and eco-friendliness. The artist is known for her illustrations using expired cosmetics products, which are created in collaboration with various beauty brands. This video details the collaboration between retailer and artist.

Making a millionaire

An epic tournament of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ decided the winners of Changi Airport Group’s annual shopping promotion ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’. This video captures the exciting and asked: who would make the million dollar move?

Flying through a Jewel

This clever video offers a true bird’s eye perspective – as it follows an animated bird flying through the spectacular sights and sounds of Jewel Changi Airport.

X marks the spot

Dubai International’s rebranding as DXB was unveiled in spectacular style in mid-February. Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths described the move as a “fresh direction to transform DXB into the airport of the future, one that is led by a more customer-centric approach, that incorporates the hospitality, excitement, warmth and true spirit of Dubai”.

The Seven Worlds

Based on the idea that each time you taste Hennessy X.O you go on an odyssey, acclaimed film director Ridley Scott created an epic sensory voyage that explores seven tasting notes in a surreal narrative. Hennessy ran a series of high-profile activations this year designed to create brand awareness and appreciation for Hennessy X.O. Cognac across key Asian airports.

Dynamic Dallas

This video features highlights of a memorable, inspiring and insightful Airport Food & Beverage Conference in Dallas, as FAB came to the USA for the first time in June.

A new kind of runway

Melbourne Airport staged its first fashion show in late August. The Terminal 4 pop-up parade was organised in partnership with Melbourne Fashion Week and featured styles and products from leading Australian brands and key retail partners.

Reimagining inflight retail

KrisShop’s joint venture partners – national carrier Singapore Airlines, travel retailer 3Sixty and ground services provider SATS – unveiled a new-look omnichannel platform during an event at Raffles Hotel in Singapore that they said would “help redefine travel retail in years to come”

A new airport standard

Some 11,720sq m of landscaped retail and food & beverage space, a world-class art collection, a tropical garden and a dazzling water feature. These are just some of the key elements of Hamad International Airport’s spectacular upcoming second phase of expansion, as this fly-through video of the central features showed.

Tradition meets modernity

The House of Rémy Martin launched a ‘Team Up For Excellence’ global marketing campaign in Versailles with a spectacular celebration of its heritage, terroir, teamwork, luxury expressions and knowledge of Cognac making. This film show masters of the Rémy Martin Estate at work and reflects on how tradition marries with modernity at the Cognac house.

Heathrow’s Elf Squad

London Heathrow revealed a long held secret: that every year Christmas preparations are happening underneath passengers’ feet at the airport. Passengers can take a sneak peek at the elvish activity via three 360-degree films that can be viewed through periscopes in terminals 2 and 5. This video shows Santa’s ‘Department of Wrapping’ in action.
